My reflections for year 2 of this trip are encompassed in a theme that I have been working on internally and I think it’s something we all are either working on or should be.

And that is to EVOLVE.

As we know to evolve means to develop gradually,
and I think it is the most important thing we can do.

Here are some ways I’m working on evolving on this journey and encourage all of us to do so for our own good and for the good of all of the inhabitants of this planet.

Awareness.
Thirst for wisdom.  Read, learn new things, new languages, new skills, how to play instruments. Learn about the world. Our past, present and how we can shape our future.
But I think the most important thing we need to learn is about ourselves.

Identify what makes us happy/sad, and why does it make us happy/sad?
How much of it is influenced by what other’s think?  Be it our peers or society.
How much of it is fueled by our ego, or by our fears?

We should  try to understand the root of our actions and motivations in life.
Only through self-awareness can we see things we don’t like about ourselves and how to change them.

 Mind Control

Paulo-Coelho-Quote-You-have-two-choices-to-control-your-mind-or-to
Our mind is the most important thing in our life. We need to observe it, study it, understand it and learn to control and master it. It creates and dictates our reality, emotions, interactions with ourselves and the outside world and others.
Our mind can be either our best friend or our worst enemy.

Be present! Our mind tends to focus on the past and the future and the millions of distractions. We need to try our hardest to be in the present moment and enjoy it!

Mindfulness or meditation or breathing exercises are magical. You can find AT LEAST 10 minutes a day for it and the inner peace and health benefits it will bring you are amazing.

Perception

So much of our happiness depends on how we choose to look at the world.
We should be happy with what we have.
We are rich when we are content and happy with what we have.

5 Signs you’re doing well in life:
1. You’re breathing
2. You have a roof over your head
3. You ate today (or had the chance to).
4. You have clean water
5. You have clothes to wear

And we should NEVER compare ourselves or our lives to other people and their lives!

Conclusion: Why should we evolve?

Rumi Change yourself quote

We should evolve so that we can be better, happier people.
By doing this we will be making the world a better place. By leading by example we influence those around us and contribute to our happiness and the well-being of those around us.

I hope you enjoyed these reflections. I just wanted to share some of the things that I have been working on…these realizations I’ve had… in hopes of them helping you, as they’ve helped me. Gracias, and much love 🙂
